“Participant Stories: Melbourne’s Hidden Gems: Free Things to Do and Places to Meet”

By Stephen Duff

Hello, everyone! Hope all is well with you!

Are you looking for ways to make the most out of the Autumn and Winter months in Melbourne? If so, I’ve got some fantastic resources to share with you.

I recently stumbled upon a gem of a website and app called “What’s On”. You can visit their website at https://whatson.melbourne.vic.gov.au/ or access it by scanning the QR code below. There’s also an app available for both iOS and Android devices. The best part? It’s completely free! This website is a treasure trove of information, updating all the time with the latest events happening around Melbourne. Whether you’re into arts, live music, festivals, or community workshops, there’s something for everyone.

And if you’re looking to connect with people who have similar interests, I also recommend checking out the Meetup app. And no, it’s not for dating (though they do have events for singles too)! Meetup is a great way to find local groups engaged in all kinds of activities, from book clubs and knitting circles to walking groups. It’s a fantastic way to make new friends and explore different parts of our city.

If you encounter any issues accessing these sites or need a little extra help, don’t hesitate to ask your Support Worker or Carer for assistance. I hope you find these resources as useful as I have. Wishing you all the best for the coming months. Stay active and connected!

Cheers, Stephen 😊
