I became involved with Out Doors in the mid-’90s after seeing a brochure I had a break for 7 years when I ran an educational group for people with Bipolar disorder I came  back to Out Doors in 2005.

What is your role now with Out Doors and how did it come about?

I am a participant at Out Doors, I trained some years ago as a mentor and I am a member of Out Doors’ Council.

What is your favourite or thing to do at Out Doors?

At Out Doors, I feel valued and respected as an individual by staff and participants. In the clinical setting, you’re not treated very well .

Have you always enjoyed being in nature  where did your love of nature and the great Out Doors come from?

As a young child, my father used to take the family camping He took us to remote areas in the bush (no lolly shops for miles). He taught us to respect everything about the bush; the animals, birds, rivers and trees. He had amazing knowledge of the bush I loved the camping trips we went on and being in nature.

What is your favourite activity or thing to do in the Out Doors?

Camping and I love rafting, it’s awesome!

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?

I would love to live on the Cumberland River where you have the mountains, the sea and the river. It’s a very special and beautiful place.

Tell us something that other people may not know about you?

I was a nurse and midwife for 47 years! I’ve delivered thousands of babies and it never loses its magic. Hard work but I loved my job.

What do you do when you’re having your own mental health challenges?

I go walking by the sea or a river or a park and spend time in nature The beauty of nature is very calming and healing for me

What will you do when COVID restrictions are lifted ?

I will visit my family and friends, and especially the grandkids! I’ll bring some wine to celebrate us being together again – can’t wait!
