Earlier in the year l had the opportunity to go on a trip to Daylesford, at Boomerang Ranch to explore some of the old Goldfields tracks. It was a lovely trip filled with trekking, fantastic staff, great food and tremendous company.
Some of the views of waterfalls, rainforests and the old goldmines transported us back in time. We came across old mines, which looked like they’d been blasted with dynamite, in what felt like the middle of nowhere. I have no idea how individuals reached some of these harsh environments back in the day. I guess the allure of searching for gold does crazy things to people. Parts of the walks were tropical and other parts were your classic Australian bushland.
Daylesford was just a delight. I could’ve spent a whole day there exploring some of the unique retail outlets. There was a strange tower in the middle of the gardens, which we all climbed in the dark… it was very cool!
The accommodation was pretty awesome. There was an old wood fire, which was super popular amongst the group. On the ranch, there were lots of ponies and horses which we got to feed, along with some kangaroos. The different animals didn’t mind hanging out with each other, which was cool to observe.
I had an absolute ball.
