Hot Tips for Winter

By Liz McMillan

With the cooler weather comes more nasty winter bugs, so now is a good time to keep eating warming meals with plenty of protein, mushrooms, and vegetables to keep your immune system strong. Variety is key to getting all the necessary vitamins and minerals. Add in warming, health-boosting spices, such as cinnamon to your morning oats or boost your soup, stews, curries, and roast vegies with turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and herbs such as oregano, thyme, and rosemary.

Winter can also be a time we want to stay inside on the couch, but even a short spurt of outside activity, taking advantage of the winter sun and crisp winter air, will help with sleep and an overall feeling of wellbeing.
