Respite for Carers – Woodlands Walk

Spending time in nature is good for your mental health. Take a break and join us for a guided walk at Woodlands Historic Park.

Located in the outskirts of Melbourne, this stunning bushland offers a glimpse into the area’s rich history, featuring Indigenous canoe trees, European settlement relics, and an abundance of local wildlife, including kangaroos.

Highlights Include:

  • Immersing yourself in a serene natural environment.
  • Slowing down and connecting with fellow carers in a supportive setting.

Date & Time:

  • Wednesday, June 5th
  • Meet at 9:30 AM; the day concludes at 2:30 PM.

Meeting Point:

  • Sunshine Library, 301 Hampshire Rd, Sunshine.
  • We will arrange pick-up and drop-off at this location.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable clothing and sturdy walking shoes.
  • A warm jumper, gloves, and a beanie for comfort.
  • A water bottle and a sun hat for hydration and protection.

What’s Included:

  • Transportation to and from the event.
  • Warm beverages, snacks, and a picnic-style lunch.
  • Waterproof jackets available if needed.

Eligibility criteria:

To participate in our Respite for Carers program, applicants must fulfill certain criteria based on funding stipulations:

  • You or the person you care for should be residing in one of the specified metropolitan regions of Melbourne, as detailed below:

Regions and Corresponding Local Government Areas (LGAs):

  • Western Metropolitan Region: Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Moonee Valley, Wyndham.
  • Northern Metropolitan Region: Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Merri-Bek (previously Moreland), Nillumbik, Whittlesea, Yarra.
  • Eastern Metropolitan Region: Boroondara, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Knox, Whitehorse, Yarra Ranges.
