Learn how to provide mental health first aid to friends, family members, co-workers and other adults in your community.

Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness. Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance.

Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however, most do not cover mental health problems.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches participants how to assist people who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

Out Doors Inc.’s Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses provide high quality, evidence-based mental health education, increasing the amount and type of support you can provide a work colleague, family member or friend.

Mental Health First Aid – Event Details

The training is based on guidelines developed together by people with lived experience of mental health problems and health professionals working in the field.

Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, you’ll learn how to provide mental health first aid for a range of mental health problems (depression, anxiety problems, psychosis, substance use) and mental health crises (suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe psychotic states, severe effects from alcohol or other drug use, and aggressive behaviours).

Dave was amazing, it wasn’t just a facilitator reading powerpoint presentations, it was engaging and interactive and he ensured that we understood the content by asking questions throughout the course. He made us feel safe to ask him anything & I would attend any course that he presented.
