Free Workplace Wellness Day for Brimbank Healthcare Providers

To help you or your workplace make the most of National Mental Health Month, we’re running a FREE nature-based workplace wellness day for all healthcare workers in Brimbank.  

Located at the new Out Doors Inc. hub at the St Albans Community Centre (STACC), you can experience a range of outdoor activities designed to increase workplace wellness, help with team building and give you or your team a mental health boost.

This is an excellent chance to learn about the link between nature and mental health, network with other local healthcare providers and discover a new way to help your participants who are living with mental health conditions.

The day will begin with a complimentary brunch at the St Albans Community Centre where you’ll get a chance to meet our crew and hear about the benefits of nature on mental health. Then, you’ll head off for an afternoon of adventuring. Choose from canoeing at Yarra Bendmountain biking at the You Yangs or bushwalking at Lerderderg Gorge. These are examples of the many outdoor programs we run for our participants which you can experience for yourself on this workplace wellness day! All equipment, transport and food are included free of charge.

What’s on for the day?

1. Morning Keynote & Brunch: The link between nature and mental health

Hear from Out Doors Inc. Program Coordinator, Maureen Carey, as she guides you through the incredible impact nature can have on your mental health. Discover a new way to help your participants who are living with a mental health condition. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other local healthcare providers. Complimentary brunch provided.

2. Afternoon Adventure: Choose from one of the following activities
Transport to and from your activity included, along with all equipment and complimentary lunch. 

  • Canoeing at Yarra Bend
    Enjoy the serenity of the Australian bush from the comfort of a canoe. As we journey along the Yarra River, our staff with entertain you with stories of the area and interesting local facts. Going for a paddle on a river is one of the best ways to explore and connect with nature in a peaceful way.
  • Mountain Biking at the You Yangs
    Set at the You Yangs Regional Park, spend the day exploring the Kurrajong Plantation on a mountain bike. Our staff will guide you along the family-friendly trails and take you on a fantastic scenic route with plenty of opportunities for photos. As long as you can ride a bike and are keen for an adventure, this day will be perfect for you!
  • Bushwalking at Lerderderg Gorge
    The Lerderderg River flows through the park creating a sanctuary for wildlife (and a wonderful picnic spot!). As we step into nature you will soon find your rhythm as we connect with each other while enjoying some scenic walking trails. Be sure to keep an eye out for some local wildlife. This is a fantastic option for those who prefer to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground!

Morning Keynote & Afternoon Adventure

We’ll begin the day with a morning keynote and brunch at the St Albans Community Centre (9:30 am – 10:45 am) before splitting off into our groups for a day of adventuring. We’ll provide all the gear needed for the day as well as the transport to and from the relevant locations for each activity.

Don’t have enough time to join us on an adventure? That’s ok. You can still come to our morning keynote and enjoy a tasty brunch. This will be a great chance to network with other local healthcare providers and learn about the types of programs Out Doors Inc. offers. Plus, you will discover a new way to help your participants who are living with a mental health condition.

We take people into the outdoors where they can recharge, reconnect with themselves and others, and gain a fresh perspective.

New Out Doors Inc. Hub in Brimbank

Out Doors Inc. opened this hub to respond to a gap in mental health services in Brimbank . Our aim is to make mental health services accessible to all and ensure people living with a mental health condition can find the support they need in a positive, nature-based environment.  This hub makes it simpler and more convenient for Brimbank locals to access our range of outdoor adventure and recreation programs for better mental health.

Participants old and new can learn more about the various single and multi-day programs on offer, find out how to get involved (or how to refer someone), and use the hub as a convenient pick-up and drop-off location when attending a program.

The hub is open every Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the St Albans Community Centre (STACC) and staffed by our qualified and very friendly Program Coordinators.
